Our approach is simple: we seek to supplement and enhance the social engagement that seniors receive by equipping our volunteers to be leaders with exceptional interpersonal skills.
We believe having access to meaningful engagement opportunities every day is a basic human right and we seek to bring fun, hope and social connection back into the daily lives of the seniors we serve.
The reality is that the ratio of activity directors (and other life enrichment professionals) to senior residents doesn’t allow them to spend an adequate amount of quality time per resident.
COVID-19’s effect on the ability of seniors to interact meaningfully with their family members only multiplies how important our mission is.
Each of our volunteers is trained not only to be a leader, but also given extensive education on the specialized care required by seniors.
A Guiding Principle
Our multi-faceted approach is built around a guiding principle: What we do is led by our need and desire to serve selflessly, not simply “check off a box” on a volunteer hours form.
We empower our volunteers to create personal connections that are meaningful, impactful and designed to enhance the seniors’ well-being.
Joining Generations will always remain self-sufficient and administratively independent from the facilities we serve.
We are 100% self-funded through individual chapter fundraising.
Above all, our approach is to train and motivate our volunteers to care about who the seniors we serve are as people. Fostering interpersonal relationships is at the very heart of everything we do.
