Everyone deserves a little relaxation once in a while. Setting aside some time to treat yourself, use a face mask, paint your nails, get a massage, buying your favorite snack- it sounds heavenly and it is important.
This week, Joining Generations decided to treat residents to a Spa Day. Volunteers painted residents’ nails, taking the day to become manicurists and helping the residents relax. But that’s not all, volunteers also did hand massages to allow for further relaxation- and who doesn’t love a massage! To add a little bit of fun, volunteers and the elderly took a page out of Footloose’s book and let go of the world through the fine art of dancing.
Such a nice Spa Day may sound trivial to the average Joe, however, sometimes people do not get the chance to have days like this. In fact, many people tend to push aside self care- it is often skipped over on to dos and is not listed high on people’s priority lists. Self care can be seen by many as a once in a while thing. But without health- something we tend to take for granted, one is completely unable to function well as a human being. This Spa Day may have only been one day, but it is a day everyone enjoyed. It was a day that was beneficial to both parties.
