One time while scrolling through social media, I saw a Fourth of July post about fireworks. “Remember your Veterans”, it said and then it proceeded to inform the audience of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with Veterans and how fireworks can sometimes trigger a traumatic flashback and emotionally harm the Veteran. And it was looking at that post that I wondered, why isn’t that common knowledge? Why isn’t that a common consideration? Why don’t people give Veterans in their community the heads up or not use fireworks at all? And I think it’s because we forget. With everything in the news and everything in the world today, it can be easy to accidentally forget that without those in the forces, we would not enjoy our liberties. To commemorate the Veterans who have valiantly fought for us, Joining Generations Volunteers and senior citizen residents teamed up to fill gift bags for the Veterans in their facility.
We will never forget the brave people who are the reason we do not have to fear losing our freedoms. We will never forget the loving people who wanted to make sure we were safe and so they put us in their hands. Their good, capable, loving hands. Joining Generations is so thankful for every person in the army, we will never forget the sacrifices you made and we will never forget you.
